McDonald’s Israel is facing incessant criticism from human rights activists after it promised to supply free meals to Israeli soldiers even as they killed more than 600 Palestinian children in Gaza. The announcement caused outrage globally with activists calling for a boycott of the brand. Faced with widespread condemnation, McDonald’s Israel first locked it account before deleting it altogether.

In one of its tweets, now deleted, McDonald’s Israel had written, “Update that already yesterday we donated 4000 meals to hospitals and military units, we intend to donate thousands of meals every day to soldiers in the field and in drafting areas, and this is beyond a discount to soldiers coming to restaurants. We opened 5 restaurants that were open only for this purpose.”

The outrageous gesture shown towards people responsible for a largescale genocide caused global outrage. One user wrote on Twitter, “#McDonald’s Israel (@McDonaldsIL) is supplying 4,000 tons of free food per day to the Israeli Army, which is part of the war against #Palestinian Muslims.
As Muslims, it is our duty to at least show the lowest faith and boycott McDonald’s altogether.”

Another user wrote, “Financing terrorists #boycott @McDonaldsIL.” “I won’t spend a single penny to this rubbish franchise ever again because they shamelessly support GENOCIDE against Palestinians,” commented another user.
