Netizens have joined a concerted social media campaign to demand the arrest of Bollywood actor Randeep Hooda for outraging the modesty of former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati. Such was the anger against Randeep that the hashtag #ArresteRandeepHooda (with wrong spelling) remained a top trend on the micrblogging site.
This was after a video of Randeep was seen cracking a joke, which he said was ‘very dirty’ about Mayawati in a room packed with an audience. Randeep had said in the viral video, “I think I will tell a very dirty joke. It’s a sex position for God’s sake. We are taking too seriously.”
He had added, “There was Miss Mayawati. She was walking along the street with two kids, two boys. There was a man, like our man here (pointing to an audience member). He asked, “Are they twins?” (Mayawati) said, “No, no. He’s four, he’s eight.” He (man) said, “I can’t believe someone has been there twice”.”
Angry netizens on Thursday trended #ArresteRandeepHooda as they demanded the actor’s arrest for outraging the modesty of a Dalit woman, who was also the chief minister of India’s largest state.
I support this trend. #ArresteRandeepHooda

At least two actors namely Munmun Dutta and Yuvika Chaudhary have had to issue public apologies to avoid criminal action after they made casteist remarks targeting India’s Dalit community.
Randeep has not yet responded to the outrage on social media.
