Just days after actress Twinkle Khanna took a jibe at the supporters of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, her husband Akshay Kumar found himself at the centre of widespread speculations that he was joining the BJP. This was after the Khiladi fame actor posted a cryptic tweet.
His post on the microblogging site read, “Getting into an unknown and uncharted territory today. Doing something I have never done before. Excited and nervous both. Stay tuned for updates.”

As expected his tweet prompted many to indulge in a guessing game with almost everyone predicting that the famous Bollywood actor was all set to join the BJP. Others asked if his ‘uncharted territory’ reference could possibly mean that the saffron party was announcing him as its Lok Sabha candidate from Gurdaspur in Punjab. Gurdaspur was previously represented by BJP leader and late Bollywood actor Vinod Khanna. However, there were some sa, whoid that the actor wasn’t eligible to contest elections in India because of his Canadian citizenship.

To stop the growing speculations surrounding his tweet, Akshay once again took to Twitter to clarify, “Grateful for all the interest shown in my previous tweet but just clarifying in light of some wild speculation, I am not contesting elections.”

Akshay has had to routinely face criticism for allegedly being soft on the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the past.
