Bollywood item girl Isha Koppikar on Sunday formally joined the BJP in the presence of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. Soon after her formal induction in the saffron party, Koppikar was appointed as the working president of the BJP’s women transport wing.
Speaking on the occasion, Koppikar said, “I will do my best to discharge the responsibilities given to me in this house today. I will pray to God that I contribute a lot to the nation building process in this life. I am thankful to Hon’ble Nitin Gadkari ji for providing me the opportunity to join this great nationalist party.”
Koppikar, who made her Bollywood debut from film Fiza, also acted in Kya Kool Hain Hum and Girlfriend among others. She also performed several item songs in films such as Company and Kaante on popular songs such as Khalaas and Ishq Samundar respectively.
No sooner her induction in the BJP was made public, social media erupted with jokes and sarcastic comments targeting the saffron party and the RSS, its ideological parent. One user took a dig at the RSS by reminding its supporters about Koppikar’s controversial film Girlfriend, which was based on a lesbian relationship.
User Project Truth wrote, “My advice to @RSSorg and @narendramodi_in – DO NOT WATCH #IshaKoppikar ‘s movie #GIRLFRIEND – Any flag bearer of #Indian #Culture will not be able to watch the woman-woman love movie! ”

Others took a swipe at the BJP leader, Kailash Vijayvargiya, who had mocked Priyanka Gandhi’s entry in politics with ‘chocolatey face’ comments. Later, explaining his comments, Vijayvargiya had said that his comment was directed towards Bollywood actors, and not against any political leader.
“I would like to tell my friends in media that if there is such a statement, then they should cross-check it. I used the term chocolaty face for Bollywood actors. I did not use it for any political leader,” he was quoted as saying.
Perhaps keeping Vijayvargiya’s latest clarification in mind, AAP MLA Alka Lamba tweeted sarcastically, “Save your daughter. Hope (these BJP leaders) don’t swallow her mistaking her as chocolate.”

TV channels going berserk about some #IshaKoppikar joining the BJP probably think the loser is going to add 100 seats to the Losers party.

Earlier this month, another Bollywood actress, Moushumi Chatterjee, had joined the BJP.
