Actor Aamir Khan who had thrown his weight behind the makers of Udta Punjab has described the leaking of the censor copy just two days before its release a serious matter.
Speaking to media, Aamir said, “If it is a censored copy that has leaked, it’s a big shame for CBFC. But if it’s not censored copy then piracy is an issue we’ve been fighting against for very long. “
Aamir also applauded the Bombay High Court’s decision clearing the release of Udta Punjab, scheduled for 17 June (Friday, tomorrow).
He said, “But if it’s not censored copy then piracy is an issue we’ve been fighting against for very long.”
Not too long ago, Aamir had joined the host of Bollywood celebrities to support Anurag Kashyap and others behind Udta Punjab.
He had said, ““It’s very unfortunate. I’m pained that the film is going through this. As per my knowledge, it is based on drug addiction and delivers a social message. I don’t think there is anything that should be cut or audience should be kept away…
“It reflects badly on CBFC. I hope the film gets justice at the Tribunal. The voice of the filmmaker shouldn’t be throttled… There should be freedom of speech. Every Indian should have this right.”
