This comes just days after the CBDT had denied media reports of its plan to extend the due date of filing the ITRs to 18 October. Denying the rumours, the CBDT had said, “The notification of due date extension pertaining to filing of ITRs that is being circulated on social media platforms is not genuine. Taxpayers are advised not to fall prey to such false news.”
