Indian army has handed over an 11-year-old boy to Pakistani army after he accidentally crossed into the Indian territory from Pakistan occupied Kashmir.
A report published in the Indian Express said that Sameer Kayani, a resident of Laswa area of Athmuqam in PoK was caught by Indian soldiers at the border, where he inadvertently crossed over to Indian territory on Thursday night.
Quoting officials from the Indian army, the report said that a contact was made with the Pakistani army to inform them about the safety and well being of the boy. Indian soldiers then reportedly requested for a flag meeting with an intention to repatriate and unite the boy with his family at the earliest.
“The flag meeting was held at the Teetwal Crossing Point and the boy was handed over to representatives of Pakistan Army by the unit based at Tanghdar frontier area,” an official was quoted as saying.
Indian Army also gave Kayani a pair of new clothes and sweets for his family across the borders.
In a similar incident a fortnight ago, www.jantakareporter.com had reported about a woman, who too inadvertently crossed into the Indian side via the LoC in Naoshera sector. Like Kayani, she too was returned by Indian army to Pakistan with Ramzan gifts.
