Women and Child Development minister Maneka Gandhi reportedly hit out at her party colleague and the chief of National Commission for Women, Lalitha Kumaramangalam over Salman Khan’s repae remarks.
Salman, who was summoned by the NCW to appear on Friday (today) ignored the notice and did not turn up.
A report by News18 said that an angry Maneka attacked the NCW chief at a meeting stating there was no need to give priority to the case against celebrities as there were several cases of rape pending with the panel.
Maneka also reportedly rejected Kumaramangalam’s objection that she did not need to keep the minister in the loop before sending a summons to the actor.
The confrontation between the two comes after the NCW chief had objected to the WCD minister’s plan for a system to police those abusing women online.
Trolls largely belonging to BJP had targetted Maneka after she decided to set up a women and cyber crime cell in her ministry on Tuesday in response to the expletive-laden trolling of a woman journalist by former Bollywood singer Abhijeet.
