Bangladesh on Saturday defeated Afghanistan by six wickets in their World Cup encounter played in Dharamsala. In the second match of the day, South Africa registered a huge win against Sri Lanka.
Batting first, Afghanistan were bowled out for 156 in 37.2 overs. Shakib Al Hasan and Mehidy Hassan both shared three wickets each.
Bangladesh achieved the target by losing just four wickets in 32.4 overs. Hossain Shanto remained unbeaten at 59 while Mehidy made 57.
In the second match, South Africa piled up a mammoth total of 428-5 in 50 overs. This was possible because of three centuries made by Quinton de Kock, Rassie van der Dussen and Aiden Markram. van der Dussen made 108 while Markram was out for 106. de Kock was dismissed for 100.
In reply, Sri Lanka could only manage 326 runs, thereby losing the match by 102 runs.
