London’s Madame Tussauds, a museum known for creating wax replica of the world’s top celebrities, is reportedly planning to open its first India branch with Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal being their first target to be replicated in wax.
A report published in The Indian Express said that the iconic museum’s India partner, Wizcraft Entertainment is in conversation with Kejriwal to create the wax statue to showcase in India when Madam Tussauds opens its India branch, reportedly a year later.
Writing to the Delhi CM, on 11 January, the Wizcraft asked if he would like “to be an esteemed waxwork figure at the new attraction in Delhi”
Should Kejriwal give his consent to this request, he will become the first Indian chief minister to be replicated in wax by Madame Tussauds.
Madame Tussauds, situation in central London’s Baker Street area has already showcased the wax replica of Mahatma Gandhi, Indira Gandhi, actors Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Aiswarya Rai and Kareena Kapoor among others.
The letter urged Kejriwal to “accept to join the family of world famous icons, heroes and celebrities already chosen for Madame Tussauds Delhi.”
Delhi Culture Minister Kapil Mishra said, “Madame Tussauds will be among a number of tourist attractions that will be coming to Delhi. People would like to see a wax statue of chief minister Arvind Kejriwal.”
