Royal Challengers Bangalore all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has launched a blistering attack against haters for being ‘horrible’ on social media in posting comments against him and his teammates.

The Aussie, who failed to shine with the bat in the RCB’s defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders on Monday, wrote on Twitter, “Great season by RCB, unfortunately we fell short of where we thought we should be. Doesn’t take away from an amazing season!! Some of the garbage that has been flowing on social media is absolutely disgusting! We are human beings who are giving our best each and every day. Try being a decent person maybe instead of spreading abuse…,”

Terming his haters ‘horrible people,’ Maxwell wrote, “Thank you to the REAL fans that shared love and appreciation for the players giving their all! Unfortunately there is some horrible people out there that make social media a horrible place to be. It is unacceptable!!!! Please don’t be like them!!!”

The defeat against the KKR meant that Virat Kohli could not fulfill his desire to lead the RCB to an IPL glory. Kohli signed off as the RCB captain and will not lead the team again. Reacting to his side’s loss, Kohli tweeted, “Not the result we wanted but I am so proud of the character shown by the boys throughout the tournament. A disappointing end but we can hold our heads high. Thank you to all the fans, management & the support staff for your constant support.”

Batting first, Royal Challengers Bangalore suffered from a batting collapse as they were restricted to 138-7 in 20 overs. Sunil Narine was the tormentor-in-chief for the side led by Virat Kohli as the West Indian slow-arm bowler finished with an impressive spell of 4-21 in four overs.

Kolkata Knight Riders achieved the target by losing just six wickets.
