In a huge development, the Narcotics Control Bureau has arrested Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan in a drug case and sent the 23-year-old celebrity kid to one day of custody.
The NCB lawyer, Advocate Advait Sethna, had sought for two days of police custody but Shah Rukh Khan’s lawyer agreed to one day’s remand.
Shah Rukh Khan’s lawyer, “Your honour may take me in custody and remand me for one day so that whatever investigation needs to be done, is done. Because I am neither found in possession, nor is there allegation of consumption. None of the sections attract the embargo under sec 37 of the NDPS”, Khan’s lawyer Satish Maneshinde was quoted by the Livelaw website.
Aryan was detained from a Goa-bound cruise ship along with seven others, who were identified as Arbaaz Merchant, Munmun Dhamecha, Nupur Sarika, Ismeet Singh, Mohak Jaswal, Vikrant Chhoker and Gomit Chopra.
Two NCB officials had reportedly boarded the Goa-bound ship disguising as passengers. They decided to carry out the raid after it became clear that banned substances were being used on the cruise. The NCB officials have reportedly recovered Ecstasy, Cocaine, MD (Mephedrone) and Charas.
A report by NDTV said that the NCB officials recovered 13 grams of cocaine, 21 grams of charas, 22 pills of MDMA and 5 grams of MD from their raid of the ship.
Aryan has been booked under sections 8(C) read with 20, 35 and 27 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
Aryan Khan had dominated social media conversations on Sunday. While critics targeted Shah Rukh Khan, there were many who came out in support of the star kid. Actor Sunil Shetty has thrown his weight behind Aryan Khan by asking media to leave him alone. He told reporters on Sunday, “When a raid is conducted at a place, many people are taken into custody. We assume that a particular boy must have consumed it (drugs). The process is on. Let’s give that child a breather. Let real reports come out.”
