After Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo removed Coca-Cola from his news conference ahead of his country’s match against Hungary, French football star Paul Pogba too decided to do the same but with a bottle of Heineken beer, which was placed on the table during his Euro 2020 interaction with the media.
Soon after France defeated Germany 1-0 in a crucial group stage encounter, Paul arrived to speak to reporters about the match where he had played a key role in scripting his team’s victory against Germany. A devout Muslim, Pogba immediately removed a green bottle of Heineken beer and placed it below the table during his post-match press conference.
The 28-year-old player, who plays for Manchester United in the English Premier League, was awarded the Heineken ‘star of the match’. Hence the presence of the Heineken beer during the press conference.
This came just hours after Ronaldo had sensationally removed two bottles of Coca-Cola during his pre-match news conference and urged his fans to drink water instead. His decision had caused Coca-Cola to lose a whopping $4 billion in the stock market.
Both players have earned plenty of plaudits for their decision to stick to their principles.
Since Cristiano Ronaldo’s press conference where he removed two bottles of Coca-Cola and replaced them with water, Coke has lost $4billion in market value. ????????
