The Mumbai Police on Thursday arrested former Bigg Boss contestant and actor Ajaz Khan for allegedly sharing objectionable videos on social media.
file photoA statement by the cyber cell of the Mumbai Police said that the videos shared by Khan promoted religious enmity ‘between different groups on grounds of religion and created hatred among public at large.’
The statement by the Mumbai Police said, “Cyber Crime Police Station, Mumbai had received a complaint along with few videos which have gone viral on social media. It was found that Ajaz Khan has created/uploaded these videos with objectionable contents mainly promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, etc. and created hatred among public at large.”
Khan has been booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code including 153A and 67 IT Act. He was likely to be produced before a local court on Thursday.
Khan is alleged to have shared videos in response to the Mumbai Police’s decision to act against TikTok celebrities after they posted a video on the lynching of Tabrez Ansari in Jharkhand.
Khan, in his video, had asked whether the Muslim users of TikTok group Team 007 were being acted against because of their religious identity as Muslims. In Another video, Khan had urged Muslims to show unity and hit the streets against the continuing atrocities against them. He had cited an example of the attack on a Sikh auto driver in Delhi and how thousands of people from the Sikh community had staged a protest outside a police station in the national capital.
