In a tragic incident, as many as 29 people died after a bus going from Lucknow to Delhi skidded off the Yamuna Expressway before falling into a drain on Monday. UP Police said that 20 people had been rescued.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who won his last Lok Sabha polls from Lucknow, tweeted, ” I am saddened by the news of Yamuna Expressway bus accident. I have spoken to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. He has sent Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma and Minister of State for Transport Swatantra Dev Singh to the site of the accident.”

The bus fell 15 feet below the six-lane expressway, which connects Noida to Agra. Singh said that BJP leader Pankaj Singh too had left for the accident site.
Elsewhere, the UP Police tweeted saying that ‘one Sleeper Coach passenger bus travelling from Lucknow to Delhi met with an accident on Yamuna Expressway. It fell into the side fall about 15 feet deep. 20 passengers rescued so far. Efforts are on for the rest. IG Agra.”
