Madhya Pradesh’s tea-seller’s daughter, Aanchal Gangwal, is being hailed across India for making it to the Indian Air Force and securing a place in the flying branch.
24-year-old Aanchal Gangwal’s story is nothing less than inspiring. Hailing from a nondescript place in Neemuch district of Madhya Pradesh and crippled with lack of resources did not prove an impediment in her ambition to fly high in life, quite literally.
“When I was in class 12, there were floods in Uttarakhand and I was impressed with the way the armed forces rescued the flood affected and decided to join the forces, but the family condition was not conducive at that time.” Aanchal was quoted by ANI.
Notwithstanding her financial hardships at home, Aanchal decided to join a job so that she could help her parents’ financial condition. Aanchal took and cleared the police sub-inspector’s exam and even joined the training. It was at this point that she started developing reservations about her decision and concluded that the tough police training schedule may not allow her to realise her bigger dream in life.
“Fortunately, the results of labour inspector exam also came at that time. Here the schedule was easier and I got chance to prepare,” Hindustan Times quoted Aanchal as saying.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan took to Twitter to wish Aanchal. He wrote, ” It takes a lot of perseverance & determination to tread a new path. MP’s daughter Aanchal Gangwal from Neemuch has proved this with her achievement. She is one among the 6 lakh applicants who vied for 22 posts of flying branch of @IAF_MCC & made it successfully. Congratulations!”

Aanchal said that clearing the Air Force Common Admission Test was not an easy task for her as she faced the interview board five times and was only successful the sixth time, the results for which were declared on 7 June. Of the six lakh candidates, who appeared for the exams, only 22 were selected from all over the country and she was the only one from Madhya Pradesh.
Her phenomenal success has brought the much-awaited happiness in the family. Her father, Suresh Gangwa, is elated and extremely proud of his daughter’s achievement. He said that he had taken loan to send Aanchal for coaching in Indore. “Now everyone in the area knows about my “Namdev tea stall” and I feel very happy when people come and congratulate me,” he was quoted by Hindustan Times.
Her feat is being widely hailed on social media.
