Deepika Padukone is safe in Mumbai fire, prays for firefighters

Actor Deepika Padukone on Wednesday said that she was safe after a fire broke out in her building in Mumai’s Worli area.

Taking to Twitter the Padmaavat actor wrote, “I am safe.Thank You everyone. Let us pray for our firefighters who are at site risking their lives.”

This was after a fire broke out on the top floor of posh Mumbai housing apartment in Worli area. Actor Deepika Padukone is one of the residents of this posh apartment.

Although the reports said that no one was injured due to this fire, it’s not clear if Deepika’s house was unscathed. Police said that around 90 residents of the building had been successfully rescued.

Deepika had purchased a flat in this builsing in 2010 with father Prakash Padukone. The property has been jointly registered in the name of Deepika and Prakash.

Mumbai Police said it on Twitter, “They are trying to do their best to douse the fire.” In another tweet it said, “Our staff & Fire Brigade is on the spot for assistance. They are trying their best to douse the fire and provide necessary help to people there.”

Social media users have been posting photos and dramatic videos of the fire.

In October last year, a massive fire had broken out in Le Mer building in Bandra, where a number of celebrities live including Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s mother lived.
