A day after the Centre’s Narendra Modi government gave its nod to 100 percent foreign direct investment (FDI) in single brand retail trading, the BJP’s detractors were quick to lampoon Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Both Congress and Aam Aadmi Party wasted no time in posting the old tweets and video speeches of PM Modi giving grief to then then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the issue of allowing FDI in retail sector.
On Thursday, Congress and AAP supporters even trended hashtag mocking the prime minister for what they said was yet another spectacular U-turn. Soon, the social media users’ attention shifted to Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, who had famously said that he will oppose the FDI ’till my last breath.’
Addressing a rally at Delhi’s Ramlila ground, Jaitley had said, “This FDI is not in favour of the consumer, farmer, trader, manufacturer and the country. That’s why we are opposing it and will continue to oppose it till our last breath.”
Many users began to mock the finance minister with some even sarcastically wondered if Jaitley had passed away given that the FDI had received approval from the central government.
Arun Jaitley said he will oppose FDI till his last breath. That means he either has to oppose it or well……?#BjpFDIflipflop #ModiUTurnOnFDI pic.twitter.com/LksayGCIjA

@arun Jaitley. Not sorry that you are dying. You did say you would oppose, 100%FDI till your last breath. When are you planning to die. Maybe you can coordinate with Uma Bharti, Sushma Swaraj and Smriti Irani. Save money on funerals.
