WhatsApp has become notorious for becoming a popular medium these days as far as disseminating fake stories. The nature of these fake stories vary. Many such WhatsApp forwards then also go on to find prominence in the coverage of Indian news channels.
The latest victim of such fake forwarded message is BJP minister in Narendra Modi government, Babul Supriyo, who faced Twitter roasting.
Supriyo tweeted how every date corresponding with the number of month in 2018 was going to fall on Sunday.
He was soon corrected by Twitter users with many asking why he did not care to check his facts before sharing something, which was essentially a WhatsApp forward. Supriyo, however, refused to delete his tweet even when some users pointed out that it was fake.
He wrote, “Really?? Why wud someone create such a fake thing !!! But I won’t delete it as some suggest ? we can all make mistakes or be April Fooled in December .. I’d rather accept that I am fooled with this one.”
