At least 30 more children have died in the last 48 hours at Gorakhpur’s Baba Raghav Das (BRD) Medical College Hospital.

Confirming the deaths, Prof Dr DK Srivastava, Head of Department of Community Medicine, told ANI, “15 infant were younger than one month. Six of the remaining 15, who were older than a month, passed away due to encephalitis. Others died due to various other reasons.”
Gorakhpur is the hometown of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. In August Yogi’s heath minister had courted controversy by saying that children died in August.
