AAP protest at Jantar Mantar over ‘death anniversary’ of achche din

Hundreds of Aam Aaadmi Party workers are protesting at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar against price rise and what they termed as ‘several U-turns’ on BJP’s election promises.

The AAP workers were heard shouting slogans against Prime Minister Modi’s claims that ‘ achche din(good days)’  were finally here. Some protesters were seen carrying placards that read ‘achche dinno ki punyatithi, 26 May, 2015 (death anniversary of good days).’

Modi had promised voters during the Loksabha campaign last year that he will ensure achche din for Indians if he was elected India’s prime minister. PM Modi, who held a huge celebration rally in Mathura on Monday, said that achche din was finally here.

Both the BJP and AAP have been embroiled in a showdown over the administration of Delhi. AAP, which won a historic mandate in Delhi elections earlier this year, accuses the BJP of causing obstruction in their ability to run the Delhi administration. While BJP says that since Delhi wasn’t a full-fledged state, Arvind Kejriwal led government ought to have referred the matters related to appointment of senior civil servant to the Lieutenant Governor first.
