Actor Swara Bhaskar has acknowledged that the Centre’s Narendra Modi government was harassing the Delhi’s Arvind Kejriwal-led administration. The Veere Di Wedding actor took to Twitter to ‘give credit’ to the Kejriwal government for its ‘tremendous work’ in the field of education.

Swara wrote, “Gotta give credit where rightfully due/ AAP govt. in #Delhi is doing some tremendous good work for the common people despite a lot of pressure And harassment. Kudos to @ArvindKejriwal @msisodia sirs and team! (sic)”

Swara was reacting to Kejriwal’s tweet highlighting its scheme to provide spoken English course to government school students in the national capital. Kejriwal had tweeted, “Govt school students mostly come from economically poor backgrounds. When i meet them, this was their biggest demand – sir, hame english bolna sikhwa dijiye. I am so happy this course is now starting for govt school students. (sic)”

Kejriwal and the Centre have been on a collision course since the former’s Aam Aadmi Party won a historic mandate in the 2015 assembly elections by securing 67 out of the 70 seats. The AAP has often accused the Centre of not allowing it to function independently by stalling many public schemes.

Delhi is not a full state and most of the administration including policing remains under the control of the central government through the Lieutenant Governor. The Delhi government has challenged the High Court’s verdict declaring the LG as the administrative boss of the national capital.

Swara’s next release Veere Di Wedding is set to release on 1 June.
