Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University in Bihar has reportedly cancelled the LLB degree of Delhi’s former law minister Jitender Singh Tomar, reported news agency ANI.
In December, the Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University (TMBU) Syndicate, the top decision making body of the university, had recommended cancellation of law degree of Tomar.
“The University Syndicate accepted decision of the Examination Board and recommended cancellation of law degree of Aam Aadmi Party MLA and former Delhi minister Jitendra Singh Tomar,” Pro-Vice Chancellor of TMBU A K Rai had said.
Tomar, who was Law minister in the Arvind Kejriwal government was earlier arrested last year on the charge that degree was fake. He was forced to resign as a minister after the issue hogged national headlines in 2015. Tomar is currently out on bail.
In the probe it was found that the migration certificate of the former Delhi Law Minister was fake. The controversy relates to the acquisition of Law degree by Tomar on the basis of a doubtful enrolment at Biswanath Law College in the academic session 1994-95. He had claimed to have passed the law examination in 1998-99.
Delhi Police last week had filed a chargesheet concluding that the investigations revealed that Tomar’s law and BSc degrees were fake.
