Renowned Bollywood actor and BJP leader Shatrughan Sinha has taken a dig at Prime Minister Modi, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Information and Broadcasting Minister Smriti Irani.

Speaking at the book release ceremony of the JDU leader Ali Anwar on Thursday, Sinha said that he was often asked to explain his qualification to comment on the economic policies of the Modi government.

“They ask me how can I speak on economic policy? I say, If an advocate can handle the ministry of finance, an actor (Smriti Irani) can manage the HRD Ministry, a chaiwala can scale heights and become PM, why can’t I speak on economic issues?” he said.

Sinha spoke for around 10 minutes and all through his speech he targetted the Modi government for its failure on demonetisation and the GST rollout.

Sinha also expressed his concern on the alarming rise in the attacks by the right-wing terrorists masquerading as cow vigilantes.

He said, “What is happening in this country? Cow vigilantes are killing people, intellectuals, writers, journalists… and now even judges are being killed. ‘Aaj dhan shakti jan shakti par bhari hai’ (Today, money power is stronger than people’s power). And then if people like me come forward, we have attributed motives, we are questioned.”

Sinha has been embarrassing the BJP government led by Narendra Modi on several issues for quite some time. He’s been vocal on criticising the Modi government. Last year in November, he had launched a blistering attack against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s demonetisation announcement, saying that ‘savings over many years of our mothers & sisters for emergency can’t be equated with black money.’
