Union Minister Anantkumar Hegde is known for taking political discourse to new lows. The latest in the series is his attempts to drag the wife of a Congress leader for her Muslim faith. Attacking his Congress rival Dinesh Gundu Rao, Hegde dragged the latter’s Muslim wife on Twitter.
The motormouth minister of Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote, “I shall definitely answer this guy @dineshgrao’s queries, before which could he please reveal himself as to who he is along with his achievements? I only know him as a guy who ran behind a Muslim lady.”
He was reacting to tweet by Rao, who had slammed him for his controversial ‘Hindu girl’ comments. Rao’s tweet had read, “Anantkumar Hegde Wht are ur achievements after becoming a Union Minister or as MP? Wht are ur contributions for Karnataka’s development? All I can say for sure,it’s deplorable tht such people have become ministers & have managed to get elected as MP’s.”

Hegde, while speaking at a public event in Karnataka’s Kodagu district, had said, “We have to rethink the priorities of our society. We shouldn’t think of caste. If a Hindu girl.” Modi’s minister had earned public ire for his ill-fated and communally divisive comments.
Ananthkumar Hegde has no abyss. He just keeps discovering new lows each time. And BJP not acting on him is a msg that they endorse him and his brand of vulgarism. https://t.co/SlOXAzvxll

Responding to Hegde’s attempt to drag his wife in a political discourse, Rao tweeted, “Sad to see @AnantkumarH stoop to such low levels as to bring in personal issues. Guess it’s his lack of culture. Guess he hasn’t learnt from our Hindu scriptures. Time hasn’t run out, he can still try and become a more dignified human.”
