An Mi 17 helicopter of the Indian Air Force has crashed in Jammu and Kashmir’s Budgam area. Both pilots are reported to have been killed in the crash. Two Squadron Leaders killed in the crash have been identified as Vashishth and Ninad.
In the video of the crash site, a group of people can be seen rushing to the burning aircraft. The Indian government has not made any comments on the crash. SSP Budgam was quoted as saying that the IAF’s technical team will arrive and ascertain facts. “Till now, we have found two bodies,” he told ANI.
Meanwhile, news agency ANI reported that airports in Leh, Jammu, Srinagar and Pathankot had been placed on high alert adding that airspace was suspended due to security reason. Many commercial flights too have been put on hold.
ANI also reported quoting local police that “Two bodies have been found at the crash site.”
Earlier the Indian government had said that the Pakistan Army violated ceasefire in the Uri sector on Wednesday morning.
Today’s MiG crash has taken place just a day after the Indian Air Force carried out air strikes deep inside Pakistan.
