HS Phoolka quits Aam Aadmi Party, hands over resignation to Arvind Kejriwal


Senior AAP leader and MLA in Punjab assembly, HS Phoolka, on Thursday announced that he had left the Aam Aadmi Party and handed over his resignation to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

He took to Twitter to announce his separation from the AAP. He said, “I have resigned from AAP & handed over resignation to Kejriwal ji today. Though he asked me not to resign but I insisted. Will be briefing media tomorrow at 4pm at Press Club, Raisina Rd, New Delhi to explain the Reason of leaving AAP & my further plans.”

Last year in May, Phoolka had threatened to leave the AAP if his leaders joined the anti-BJP alliance with the Congress. “My stand is very clear, I cannot have any relation with Congress because for me the issue of 1984 riots is the biggest & I will not make any compromise with it. If the party (AAP) enters Congress-led alliance I’ll tender resignation that very moment,” he had told news agency ANI.

Phoolka, also a noted advocated, was recently hailed as a hero after a court in Delhi convicted Sajjan Kumar in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.
