The Hindutva trolls have taken their hatred for Padmaavat to a new height after they made the phone numbers of Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Anurag Kashyap public on social media platforms.
Known members of the right-wing trolls on Wednesday night began to publish the phone numbers of these two renowned filmmakers with an identical message, “No one should call Anurag Kashyap on his number ********** and Sanjay Leela Bhansali on 9********* and abuse them. This is not right. Our country is great. Rest you guys are intelligent.”
While the first two lines were identical, all these trolls encouraged their supporters to call Bhansali and Kashyap besides sharing their numbers. One user identified as Sona Singh Rathor wrote, “You guys may have understood the message. Now go and spread the word.”
Another user’s post started with the message, “We are proud of our tradition and we have to teach these black Britishers a lesson.”
The phone numbers in circulation by the Hindutva trolls included mobile number of Bhansali, the landline number of his office and a mobile number that they claimed was of Kashyap. When checked on Truecaller mobile app, the number being claimed to be of Kashyap belonged to one Kriti Singh.
Padmaavat is releasing on Thursday across India amidst violent protests by Hindutva terrorist group Karni Sena. Karni Sena’s supporters had set a Haryana government bus on fire while attacking another private school bus in Gurgaon. The video of frightened school children crying as their the terrorists smashed windows of their bus had gone viral inviting widespread criticism.
TV channels and so-called journalists were condemned for legitimising the terrorist act of Hindutva group by calling them fringe. Actor Farhan Akhtar wrote, “Attacking a school bus is not an agitation. It is terrorism. The people who did it are terrorists. Please refer to them as such.”
Actor Prakash Raj slammed the opposition leaders for their diplomatic reaction. His tweet read, “when he tweeted this, “Children of my country shiver with fear and cry….as karni Sena attacks a school bus….The elected Government looks the other way..The opposition party diplomatically reacts…aren’t u all ashamed to trade our children’s safety ..for ur vote bank politics. (sic)”
Actor Sameer Soni, a known supporter of BJP and PM Narendra Modi, wondered if our reaction would have been the same if the attackers of school bus were from an Islamic group fighting for their Islamic right.
“Rahul, I have a simple question for you. It’s not about the film. It’s not about the culture. It’s about law and order. It’s about giving people safety. I want to ask you one thing. If this, instead of Karni Sena, was an Islamic group, would you take any action or not? You answer that question to me today.
“If this was an Islamic group, who was fighting for an Islamic right, would you say we will let law take (inaudible),” Soni said on Republic TV on Wednesday night while addressing activist Rahul Easwar.
Meanwhile, authorities in Noida have decided to shut private schools in view of looming danger of violence.
