Less than a month after a group of right-wing fanatics killed Police Officer Subodh Kumar Singh in Bulandshahr, another cop has lost his life in a stone pelting incident in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur. Suresh Vats was reportedly deployed at the rally of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, when he was lynched to death by an angry mob.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced a compensation of Rs 40 lakh for Vats’ spouse and Rs 10 lakh for his parents. Journalist Prashant Kumar tweeted, “Another cop LYNCHED in UP. A constable posted on duty during PM Modi’s rally in Ghazipur was stoned to death by yet another frenzied mob! CM Yogi announces a compensation of 50 Lakh for the kin of the constable.”

According to information available, policemen including Vats were returning from the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally in Ghazipur when they were asked to intervene at the protest organised by the Nishad community in Nonhara police station. The members of the Nishad community had blocked the highway demanding reservation. The protesters started pelting stones at the cops after they arrived at the scene.
