BJP May deny that the RSS has no influence on the functioning of governments both in states and at the Centre. But the party has served notices to two of its tallest leaders in Maharashtra.
The BJP’s chief whip in Maharashtra assembly, Raj Purohit told Indian Express, “The party asked Khadse and Deshmukh to explain why they skipped the visit.”
Khadse, who was removed from Devendra Fadnavis government over charges of land scam, said that he could not accompany Fadnavis and BJP MLAs to Nagpur because of poor health.
As for the rebel BJP leader, Ashish Deshmukh, he too chose to skip the visit and was seen with the NCP leader Ajit Pawar. The photo of Deshmukh and Pawar together when the entire group of BJP legislators were paying mandatory visit to the RSS headquarters left the saffron party leadership red-faced.
Khadse had also hit media headlines after some reports linked him to the underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, a charge he vehemently denied.
Fadnavis has already ruled out any possibility Khadse’s induction into his cabinet.
