All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has denied the content of former BJP leader Yatin Oza’s letter to Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal.
Oza, in his letter, alleged that the AIMIM had struck a secret deal with the BJP ahead of the Bihar elections last year.
The AIMIM president, Asaduddin Owaisi on Thursday tweeted what he described as ‘Copy of lawyers notice’ to jantakareporter.com describing the content ‘incorrect, baseless, false,’ which ‘stand refuted.’
Owaisi’s lawyer said, “All the allegations levelled in the said letter by addressee no. 3 (Oza) and published by addressee no. 1 (Jantakareporter.com) represented by you (Rifat Jawaid) the addressee no. 2 are completely incorrect, baseless, false and stand refuted. Thus the report is a malicious act… Neither our client (Asaduddin Owaisi) nor any of its leader much less Akbaruddin Owaisi have ever met Amit Shah.”
Jantakareporter.com had asked Owaisi for his reactions on the day we carried the report promising to publish his version with equal prominence. The AIMIM leader, however, had chosen not to respond. In line with our best editorial practices of attempting to cover every stakeholder’s side in our reportage, we’ve decided to publish the portion clarifying Owaisi’s stand as we’ve now received.
As for the remaining allegations made by Owaisi in his letter, jantakareporter.com has decided to take legal action against the AIMIM leader. The allegations made by Owaisi in the letter and on microblogging site, Twitter, on 11 July are extremely serious in nature and defamatory. Jantakareporter.com, therefore, has initiated legal proceedings against those statements.
Oza’s letter was widely covered by mainstream media after news agency PTI carried the report independently. The AIMIM has, however, chosen to target jantakareporter.com with the legal notice before maliciously accusing the website of being a mouthpiece of a political party.
Jantakareporter.com is committed to remain fiercely indepedent carrying out hard-hitting journalism in public interest.
