Residents Doctors Association of AIIMS has strongly condemned the Yogi government’ s decision to remove Dr Kafeel Ahmad adding that the buck had been passed while making the latter a scapegoat.
Dr Harjeet Singh Bharti, President, AIIMS Residents Doctors’ Association, told NDTV, “We’ve already said that doctors alone are not responsible. Health Secretary, principal all have to take accountability.
Dr Kafeel is being made a scapegoat.” Dr Ahmad was widely hailed as a hero for saving the lives of scores of children by personally ferrying oxygen cylinders using his own money from outside at BRD hospital in Gorakhpur.
Nearly 79 children have died in just one week due to stop in oxygen supply. Gorakhpur is the hometown of Uttar Pradesh chief minister, Yogi Adityanath.
There are reports of growing anger among doctors at BRD medical college against Yogi government. Yesterday some doctors were seen filming the movement of reporters inside the ICU during Yogi’s visit to the hospital. When asked one lady doctor said that it was to be used as an evidence against the government in the event that there are more deaths in future.
