Mumbai Indians on Sunday night pulled off a thrilling win off the last ball of the match to win this year’s IPL title. With this win, the team owned by Mukesh Ambani have now won the title four times as opposed to three times won by Chennai Super Kings. They defeated the team from Chennai by one run after Sri Lankan Lasith Malinga got Shardul Thakur adjudged LBW with a perfect yorker in the last delivery of the match. The CSK needed just two runs in the last ball to win the title.
Earlier, batting first, Mumbai Indians had scored 149 for 8 with Kieron Pollard top-scoring with his unbeaten 41-run knock while Opener Quinton de Kock played a knock of 29. Deepak Chahar had scalped three wickets while Shardul Thakur and Imran Tahir took two wickets each for the CSK.
At one point it looked difficult for Mumbai Indians to win as they kept losing wickets with quick successions. But thanks to the superb knock of Shane Watson, who got out for 80 that the CSK lost grip on the match. In one over, Watson hit three sixes off Krunal Pandya’s bowling, thereby turning the tide in his team’s favour. Watson was run out in the last over of the match. His innings included four sixes and eight fours.
While Mumbai Indians celebrated their fourth title, social media users shifted their focus to the team owner Nita Ambani, who was seen fervently chanting mantras in the last couple of overs of the match. Some Twitterati wondered if she could accompany the Indian cricket team to the World Cup given her secret mantras always worked, others sought to know what she was chanting.
Hello Nita Ambani can you please accompany India on the world cup tour!!!
Just to do that!!
