Actor Sonam Kapoor is known fro not mincing words and taking stand on issues of social importance. This has landed her in trouble on several occasions but the actor has not changed her ways. She had last courted controversy when she took a stand on the gang-rape and murder of Kathua’s 8-year-old nomadic Muslim child.
She was one of those actors who had posted their photos with a placard that said, “I am Hindustan.I am Ashamed. #JusticeForAasifa. 8 years old. Gangraped. Murdered. In ‘Devi’-sthaan temple. #Kathua.”
Sonam, who recently got married to her boyfriend Anand Ahuja, was called ‘Hindu hater’ by members of the right-wing Hindutva brigade in India because of her stand on Kathua gang-rape and murder. Her haters had even announced to boycott her next film Veere Di Wedding, which went on to become a superhit at the box office.
On Thursday, Sonam was responding to few random questions as part of her Insta story. The questions included ‘how do you survive in Japan being a vegan?’ and ‘Do I complain too much for you?” among others. One question was, “Do you love Muslims?”
Pat came Sonam’s reply, “I love People of all faiths and beliefs! That’s what Hinduism preaches.”
She was then asked about her Pakistani followers, “Do you love your Pakistani followers?” Sonam replied, “Love Pakistan and I’m dying to come there and hang out.”
In response to a question whether she ever steps out of her house with unwaxed legs, the popular actor replied, “Do it all the time.”
In May this year, Sonam’s decision to wear her mangalsutra as a bracelet was widely viewed as an insult to Indian culture by many social media users.
Sonam has always been viewed as a liberal and right-thinking Bollywood actor. Not so long ago, she was one of those Bollywood stars, who enthusiastically wished Muslims on their annual festival of Eid. Sonam had posted a cute video on Instagram wishing everyone Happy Eid. She said, “On behalf of Incolours, Eid Mubarak to all of you. Hope the light of this Eid’s moon continues to brighten your lives.”
