Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar’s family is reportedly very unhappy with filmmaker Karan Johar for his decision to use the title track of Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham in his new short film in the anthology of four movies titled Lust Stories.
Lust Stories, which has Kiara Advani and Neha Dhupia in lead roles, has been in news for its bold content and the fmous orgasm scene. Quoting sources, entertainment website Bollywoodlife reported that the family members of the legendary singer had expressed their displeasure over the use of her Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham song in the backdrop while Kiara’s character was having an orgasm using a vibrator in the scene.
Incidentally, the song in question is from Karan’s own directorial ventuere K3G starring Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan, Kajol and Kareena Kapoor.
“We wonder why he needed to use a Bhajan-like song sung in the most revered voice of Asia to show his heroine in an orgasmic state. He could have used any other song,” one family member was quoted by Bollywood Hungama website.
What has also irked the family members of Lata is the makers Lust Stories to not inform the singer about their intention to use the song in such ’embarrassing’ situation. “At her age, we don’t want to expose her to this kind of ugly desecration of her song. Why did Karan Johar use Lata Didi’s immortal song in such an embarrassing situation? I still remember how ecstatic Karan was when Didi had recorded the song for Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. He said it was a dream come true. Why turn the dream song into a nightmare now?” the website quoted family members as saying.
In the film, Kiara is playing the character of a housewife, who does not find pleasure from sex with her husband. She then turns to vibrator in order to satisfy her sexual urge. The K3G song is played in the background when Kiara is seen masturbating.
