Maharashtra’s Babita Tade became the second winner of the Rs 1 crore prize money in the current edition of the Kaun Banega Crorepati quiz show. Babita was, however, left heartbroken, after host Amitabh Bachchan informed her that she could have won Rs 7 crore had she not decided to quit the show. That’s because Babita appeared to know the correct answer for the Rs 7 crore question.
The question that earned her Rs 1 crore read, “Which poet in the court of Mughal ruler Bahadur Shah Zafar wrote the Dastan – e- Gadhar a personal account of the 1857 revolt?” The options were A. Mir Taqi Mir B. Mohammad Ibrahim Zauq C. Zahir Dehlvi D. Abu Al-Kasim Firdausi.” Since Babita had her one lifeline, expert’s help, left, she was able to answer the question correctly, Zahir Dehlvi, and win Rs 1 crore.
Much to everyone’s surprise, Babita also had a go at the jackpot question and answered it correctly but she developed cold feet and decided to quit since a wrong answer would have brought her prize money down to just Rs 3.2 lakh. The question for the Rs 7 crore prize money was, “Which of these states has had the most number of its governors become presidents of India?” The options were: A. Rajasthan B. Bihar C. Punjab D. Andhra Pradesh.” She told Bachchan that the answer was Bihar, but soon after that she announced her intention to leave the show with the Rs 1 crore prize money.
After she quit the show, Bachchan asked her to guess the correct answer and she said ‘Bihar,’ which was indeed the correct answer. This left Babita and her family members present there heartbroken. But, soon she composed herself realising that she was returning home with a life-changing sum of money.
Bachchan also gifted her a mobile phone during the show.
