Actor Irrfan Khan, who’s currently undergoing a treatment for high-grade neuroendocrine cancer in London, changed his profile photo on Twitter on Sunday. Within minutes of the award-winning actor changing his display pic, it went viral on social media platforms.
In the photo, the actor is seen wearing yellow T-shirt and has ear-phones around his neck. It seems Irrfan was clicked in London while standing across the window. It’s, however, not clear whether the photo was taken at the hospital in St. Jonh’s Wood or at the house, where he’s staying.
The good news for Irrfan’s fans is that the affable actor is looking very happy in the photo, but the cancer therapy seems to have taken its toll on his health. Contrary to his earlier look, Irrfan is looking incredibly frail in the new photo.
This was the first time the actor’s fans got to see their hero since the news of his ‘rare disease’ broke. The photo has evoked quite overwhelming responses from his fans. One fan wrote on Twitter, “Allah protect you Irfan bhai.” Another fan wrote, “Wishing you a very very speedy recovery, Irrfan. Come back home soon. India misses you!!” These messages were followed by plenty of ‘get well soon’ social media posts.
While in London, Irrfan has been using his Twitter handle to promote his next film Karwaan.

On 19 June last month, Irrfan had opened up about his ‘rare disease’ when he spoke in detail to Bombay Times. This was the first time the celebrated actor had confirmed for the first time that he was suffering from a high-grade neuroendocrine cancer. In a special note, published in Times of India, Irrfan had said that the cancer he’d been diagnosed with was rare and had more unpredictability of its treatment.
Then an entertainment website reported how his old friend and co-star from Billu, Shah Rukh Khan, had rushed to his house as soon as he learnt about his illness. A great friend that he is, the king Khan had handed over the keys of his London house for Irrfan and family to stay there during the treatment.
In March this year, Irrfan first revealed how he had been diagnosed with Neuro Endocrine Tumour adding that learning about the disease ‘has admittedly been difficult.’ He had written, “The unexpected makes us grow, which is what the past few days have been. Learning that I have been diagnosed with NeuroEndocrine Tumour as of now has admittedly been difficult, but the love and strength of those around me and that I found within me has brought me to place of hope.
“The journey of this is taking me out of country, and I request everyone to continue sending their wishes. As for the rumours that were floated, NEURO is not always about the brain and googling is the easiest way to do research. To those who waited for my words, I hope to be back with more stories to tell.”
Irrfan’s wife, Sutapa Sikdar, had made a desperate appeal to his fans thanking them for their support after her husband was diagnosed with the ‘rare disease.’
