After a long wait, the trailer Shahid Kapoor-starrer Batti Gul Meter Chalu was finally released on Friday. In less than an hour of the trailer being released, the video has already clocked more than half a million views on YouTube.
The response to the trailer would leave Shahid and his fellow actors incredibly thrilled. One fan appeared to have spoken for millions, when he wrote, “It was a roller coaster ride in jus few mins. I thoroughly saw ur every emotion of urs u killed it and waiting for the movie. (sic)” Another mesmerised fan commented, “Oh my God.”
The trailer has Shahid and Shraddha Kapoor giving stellar performances both in romantic roles and when they are met with a tragedy later in the film.
The film’s story reportedly revolves around a man who kills himself because of electricity issues, bringing the role of the electricity company owner, played by Samir Soni, under the scanner. The man is served a bill of Rs 54 lakh, which he’s seen contesting, leading to his apparent suicide.
His death appears to leave Shahid shell-shocked, forcing him to seemingly fight for justice as a lawyer. The courtroom drama also included Yami Gautam, who’s seen representing the electricity company.
Speaking to DNA, Samir had recently said, “I look forward to working with Shahid after Vivah. I’m fond of him and we share an excellent rapport. I feel he still hasn’t got his due for the talent he possesses.”
The film is set to release on 21 September next month.
