Actor Akshay Kumar has sensationally confessed to holding the Canadian citizenship. His confession came after days of attack on social media over his nationality.
Taking to Twitter, Akshya wrote, “I really don’t understand the unwarranted interest and negativity about my citizenship. I have never hidden or denied that I hold a Canadian
passport. It is also equally true that I have not visited Canada in the last seven years.”
The Khiladi fame actor also said that he was a law abiding resident of India and paid his tax regularly. He wrote, “I work in India, and pay my taxes in India. While all these years, I have never needed to prove my love for India to anyone, I find it disappointing that my
citizenship issue is constantly dragged into needless controversy, a matter that
is personal, legal, non-political, and no consequence to others.”
He concluded by saying that he would ‘like to continue contributing in my small way to the
causes that I believe in and make India stronger and stronger.’

Akshay had faced criticism for helping the agenda of the BJP by agreeing to do a political interview of Prime Minister Narendra Modi even though he had claimed that his interaction was non-political. Promoting his interview with Modi, he had written, “While the whole country is talking elections and politics, here’s a breather. Privileged to have done this candid and COMPLETELY NON POLITICAL freewheeling conversation with our PM @narendramodi . Watch it at 9 AM tomorrow via ANI for some lesser known facts about him!”
He had faced incessant trolling on the day Mumbai voted as social media users asked him why he had not cast his vote even though he promoted the BJP’s version of nationalism.
