British public service broadcaster, the BBC, has accused Israeli forces of assaulting its journalists, who were returning to their hotel after covering the tension in the region.
The BBC said that its journalists were dragged from their vehicle, which was clearly marked ‘TV’ in red tape. The BBC journalists, identified as Muhannad Tutunji, Haitham Abudiab and their BBC Arabic team, were searched and pushed against a wall.
A BBC spokesperson said that journalists ‘must be able to report on the conflict in Israel-Gaza freely.’
“One of our BBC News Arabic teams deployed in Tel Aviv, in a vehicle clearly marked as media, was stopped and assaulted last night by Israeli police. Journalists must be able to report on the conflict in Israel-Gaza freely,” the spokesperson was quoted as saying.
Several BBC anchors have under fire for their biases in favour of Israel while covering the conflict since Hamas launched brutal attacks on Israeli military installations and elsewhere on Saturday.
The BBC is also feeling the heat for its language and tone while reporting the conflict. The corporation has been exposed for its hypocrisy as netizens highlighted its coverage of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Then, the BBC had resorted to blow-by-blow coverage of the war from Ukraine, highlighting the Russian atrocities.
