Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis on Wednesday guided Chennai Super Kings to a seven-wicket win against Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL.
Batting first, Sunrisers Hyderabad made 171-3 in 20 overs with Manish Pandey and David Warner making fifties. While Pandey made 63, Warner was out for 57. However, Warner’s slow batting even with nine batsmen yet to bat heavily cost the SRH. Had Kane Williamson not played a quickfire knock of 26 in 10 balls in the last couple of overs, the SRH would have finished with even fewer runs on the board.
In contrast, the run-chase by Chennai Super Kings was more aggressive as they began to hit SRH bowlers all around the park. Ruturaj Gaikwad was in a devasting form as he made 75 runs by facing just 44 balls. It took a brilliant deceptive ball by Rashid Khan to get Gaikwad clean bowled. Khan, who conceded nine runs an over, soon also dismissed another set batsman Faf du Plessis for 56. The South African faced just 38 balls to score 56 with his knock including one six and six boundaries. The next to fall victim to the Afghanistan international was Moin Ali, who departed at 15 made in eight balls.
