England on Saturday pulled off a remarkable win against the Indian team by 31 runs and took the 1-0 lead in the ongoing 5-match series.

India were bundled out for 162 runs in their second innings with skipper Virat Kohli emerging as the highest scorer with a knock of 45 runs. For England Ben Stokes ended the innings with 4-40 figure.

Stokes told Sky Sports, “It was great. We were magnificnet with the ball. We were a bit behind in the second innings but Sam Curran really turned the game playing the way he did. It’s just great to be a part of this game. I don’t really know how to feel right now.

“Virat Kohli played brilliantly in the first innings and I think we was just playing for the swing when I got him there. I’m just so proud to be a part of this group and playing for England.

India needed 194 runs to win after having bowled out the hosts for 184 runs in the second innings. However, their chase was marred by regular loss of wickets as only Kohli could put up some sort of resistance.

England had taken a lead of 13 runs over India in their first innings after they were all out for 287 runs.
