Embarrassing Amit Shah link in BJP leader Tarun Vijay’s ‘morning walk’ tweet

BJP leader Tarun Vijay on Tuesday briefly deactivated his Twitter account after several unusual tweets were posted from it, leaving his party embarrassed.

It all started with a tweet, posted from his verified account immediately after 10 pm on Tuesday night, slamming his own party leaders for attacking Congress President Rahul Gandhi for visiting Kailash-Mansarovar. His tweet said,” Those commenting, mocking at, Making cheap comments on Rahul’s Kailas Yatra are wrong. Not what a Hindu should do. It is all between him and Shiva. None can be bigger than Shiva. I hv been blessed to visit Kailas Mansarovar Yatri Sangh. (sic)”

In his subsequent tweet, seemingly meant for one of his party colleagues, Vijay wrote, “Hello. You are NOT there because you are very popular. You are there because there is person behind you. Narendra Modi. Shed your arrogance. Oh my God, you think you are very popular!!! (sic)”

These unusual tweets posted in defence of a rival party leader, who’s desperately trying to dislodge Prime Minister Narendra Modi from government, gave way to ‘morning walk’ jokes on Twitter. Critics of Amit Shah often use the joke to explain the danger (read murder) attached to being on a ‘morning walk’ in the event of criticism for the BJP president.

As the ‘morning walk’ jokes gained momentum, Vijay posted another tweet clarifying that he was safe even during his morning walk. He wrote, “I am on morning walk and I am Ok. Sacked person who was handling my tweets.”

There was one problem with his tweet. His ‘morning walk’ was taking place at midnight as the time Vijay posted his tweet was at 12.11 AM.

The eagle-eyed on Twitter moved in with lightning speed to highlight the glaring anomaly. Manish Tewari of the Congress tweeted, “I would love to do a LOOOOOOOOONG MORNING WALK AT 12.11 AM. 11 MIN PAST MIDNIGHT. This is Mota Bhai Motivation.”

Journalist Shivam Vij tweeted, “Why did Tarun Vijay go for a morning walk at midnight? Discuss.” User Dr Malwinder Singh tweeted, “Tarun Vijay is giving us clues…morning walk is the code-word here.”

Meanwhile Vijay has reactivated his Twitter account and said that a sacked employee had posted the tweets in praise of Rahul Gandhi. He told ANI, “I have deactivated it (Twitter account). This can be a plot. I will live and die for (Narendra) Modi and Amit Shah. They are Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay and Dr Syama Prasad Mukherjee for us small workers. My family and I work day and night for him. My family will die for BJP. No one demanded anything. It is a pre-2019 conspiracy. Please help me from anti-BJP elements.”

But, even in his clarification, the BJP leader appears to have heaped more embarrassment on Shah.
