The video of a man throwing chilli powder at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal outside his office in the Secretariat building has emerged. In the video, the attacker, identified as Anil Sharma, could be seen rubbing chilli powder in Kejriwal’s eyes.
Sharma is first seen pretending to touch the Delhi chief minister’s feet before quickly getting up to rub chilli powder in his eyes. The brief scuffle leads to Kejriwal glasses falling off as his aides stops him from falling on the ground.
The attack reportedly took place at 2.30 pm on Tuesday. The reason for the attack is not known yet. The attacker has been identified as Anil Sharma.
AAP leader Raghav Chadha said that he was standing right behind Kejriwal when the attack took place. He tweeted, “Was right behind CM @ArvindKejriwal at the Secretariat when he was suddenly attacked, on 3rd floor right outside his office. Shocking lapse of security. Is this Delhi Police’s incompetent effort to protect an elected CM?”
AAP has slammed the Delhi Police for the serious breach in the security of Arvind Kejriwal, asking how a man was allowed into a highly secured building with chilli powder. Delhi government’s media advisor, Nagendar Sharma wrote on Twitter, “Welcome to Delhi Secretariat a so called high security farce where ministers are assaulted & attackers have free-access till the CM Chamber Obviously Modi Police is under instructions to ignore everything.”
Reacting to the development, former deputy chief minister of Bihar and RJD leader, Tejashwi Yadav, tweeted, “Condemn the attack on Delhi CM @ArvindKejriwal ji in Delhi Secretariat . This is a serious security lapse.”
