Telugu film actor Sri Reddy on Saturday staged a topless protest against casting couch in the Tollywood film industry.
“Why Telugu actors like me don’t get a chance. They should give 75% chances to Telugu people in films. I want membership in Telugu film chamber. Why are they not giving it? I have done three films,” she was quoted by News18.
Reddy, who staged the protest on Saturday morning outside the office of Telugu Film Chamber, said that she was asked to send inappropriate pictures and videos to get a chance in Telugu films, and threatened to expose names of people who “exploit young, aspiring actors”.
“They will ask us to send inappropriate pictures and videos. Are we girls or things to play with? But we will not get an opportunity,” she added.
She was later taken to police station. The Tollywood film industry has, however, denied all her allegations. An FIR has also been filed against her for making for making derogatory remarks against the fraternity.
Two days ago, in a Facebook post, Reddy had expressed her desire to meet Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekahr Rao while also threatening to go nude in public, if the chief minister did not grant him audience.
