Sridevi cremated today as friends and fans pay tributes to Bollywood’s ‘Chandni’


Friends and fans of the Bollywood’s undisputed queen continued to pay their last respect to Sridevi on Wednesday. The mortal remains of Sridevi was brought from Dubai on Tuesday night. Her funeral took place at Vile Parle Seva Samaj Crematorium and Hindu Cemetery in Vile Parle West, on Wednesday afternoon.

Among those who’ve visited Boney Kapoor’s residence on Wednesday included Anil Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, Karan Johar and Mohit Marwah. Sridevi, who died due to accidental drowning in Dubai last week, survived by husband Boney Kapoor and daughters Jhanvi and Khushi Kapoor. Her husband Boney was in the hotel room, at the time of her death.

Also, paying respect to Sridevi at Celebration Sports Club in Lokhandwala, Mumbai, on Wednesday were Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jay Bachchan, Jaya Prada, Sushmita Sen, Madhuri Dixit, Sridevi’s niece Sonam Kapoor, Tabu, Kajol among others.

In a statement, the family said, “On behalf of Khushi, Janhvi, Boney Kapoor, the entire Kapoor and Ayyappan families, a sincere thanks to the media for your continued sensitivity and support during this emotional moment.”

A section of Indian TV channels faced public condemnation for making a mockery of the deceased.

Sridevi had ruled the silvercreen all through the 80s with blockbusters such as Mr India, Nagina, Sadma and Chandni. The 54-year-old star was in Dubai to attend her nephew’s wedding. Her daughter Khushi had accompanied her to Dubai, while Jhanvi could not be with her because of her shooting commitment for her debut film Dhadak.
