When Kochi boy beat Facebook founder in his own game

Mark Zuckerberg has surely created a revolution through his social media innovation, Facebook.

But, he was recently beaten in his own game by a boy from Kochi in Kerala.

Amal Augustine, recently closed a deal with $700 with Zuckerberg by selling a domain to the Facebook founder.

Amal had booked a domain maxchanzuckerberg.org after Zuckerberg was blessed with a baby girl earlier this year. The internet maverick had named his new born daughter, Maxime Chan Zuckerberg.

He says, “I have registered quite a few domain names and I have been doing it for some time. I registered this domain name when their baby was born last December.”

However, Amal, an engineering student, was allegedly misled to sell the domain as the original request came from GoDaddy, a hosting company, and not from the Facebook. It asked him whether he would be willing to sell the domain name by the end of last month and for how much.

Amal’s answer was in affirmative and he agreed to sell it for $700.

“When the letter came officially mentioning the change of registration, I noticed the FB letterhead. But since it’s not legal to negotiate, I just went ahead and closed the deal in seven days,” he was quoted by Times of India.

He posted his sadness on the missed opportunity on his Facebook page.
