Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani has come under severe attack her political rival as more revelations disputed her facts emerged.
We had reported how Hyderabad Dalit scholar Rohith Vemula’s friend had called Irani’s statements in the parliament a ‘blatant lie.’

Bahujan Samaj Party spremo, Mayawati and the CPI-M General Secretary, Sitaram Yechury, on Friday stepped up their attack against the HRD minister for the same statement of her made in parliament two days ago.
Mayawati went to the extend of asking Irani to behead herself as what she had failed to include a Dalit member in the judicial commission probing Vemula’s death.
Mayawati told reporters outside the parliament, “I asked Smriti Irani ji if any dalit has been included in committee that has been formed to probe into Rohith Vemula suicide case. Neither did she (Smriti Irani) answer my question yesterday nor did she answer it properly today. ”
While making an emotional statement in the parliament earlier this week, Irani had assured Mayawati, “I am ready to reply to all questions. First you allow the discussion. You are senior to me. You are a woman. If you are not satisfied with my reply, I am ready to behead myself and lay it at your feet.”
Yechury too launched a fresh tirade against Irani slamming for using a Facebook post to make her argument in the parliament.
He asked the Rajya Sabha deputy chairman, “Are you permitting any quotes from cyberspace as evidence? Are you permitting these untruths? Without these facts established, nothing should go on record?”
Meanwhile, Rohith Vemula’s mother Radhika once again called Irani a liar.
She said, “Smriti Irani is lying and diverting issue, he never received the stipend for seven months. Letters that were forwarded frm HRD Ministry indicated that students were branded as anti-national and extremists. I demand an explanation as to how my son became anti-national and extremist.”
This was in reference to Irani showing her compassion for Rohith in the parliament calling him a child.
Rohith was forced to commit suicide being expelled from the university allegedly at the behest of Irani’s ministry.
Social media users too stepped up attack against the HRD minister trending a twitter hashtag #KyunkiSmritiLiarHai.
The hashtag was influened by Irani’s popular TV soap, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Thi (Because mother-in-law too was once a daughter-in-law).
Here are some of the tweets on this subject:
