The controversial cabinet minister in Narendra Modi’s government, Niranjan Jyoti, on Sunday urged Hindu women not marry men from outside their communities as this had the potential to weaken what she described as Hindu Naari Shakti or Hindu women power.
Jyoti, who is the minister of state for food processing, said that the recently released data on caste census was disturbing and would destroy the equilibrium of the country adding that “everyone should think about what could be done in this regard.”
She was speaking Kerala after taking part in the ‘Jayanthi’ celebrations of renowned social reformer Sree Narayana Guru.
Jyoti is not new to controversy. While attending an election rally in Delhi earlier this year, she had told a rally, “you have to decide if Delhi should have Ramzaadon ki sarkar or Haramzaadon ki sarkar.”
She was widely condemned for bringing the office of a cabinet minister to disrepute by using expletives for her political opponents.
