Political parties have criticised AAP MP Bhagwant Mann for allegedly turning up drunk at a ‘bhog’ ceremony of two men killed in police firing in Punjab.

Former AAP leader Yogendra Yadav and Congress party’s Ajay Maken were among the people who attacked Mann for his behaviour.

Yadav, who founded Swaraj Abhiyan after quitting AAP, said, “Bhagwant Mann’s behaviour shocking, not surprising. It’s his habit. Arvind Kejriwal said Mann was drunk in Lok sabha.”

Ajay Maken tweeted, “Oh! Is this why ‘Drunk’ Bhagwant Mann trending?”

After tweetrati got into action over the episode, which took place in Bargari, Kotkapura in Punjab, #DrunkBhagwantMann trended on twitter.

“What else can you expect from AAP MP…Shame #,” tweeted one.

Jagtar Singh, a former granthi, made that allegation Mann was drunk when he came for the ceremony on Sunday.

“I found Mann was smelling foul and told him to leave the stage. We are struggling with the case of disrespect to the Guru Granth Sahib and how can a man come drunk on the stage where Guru Granth Sahib Parkash had been done,” Jagtar Singh said.

“I feel Mann should not be allowed to share any panthic stage in future and he should apologise to the whole of Punjab for this shameful act.”

Jagtar added, “If I had announced this from the stage then the crowd would have attacked him and the whole atmosphere would have became tensed. So I told him to leave at once and he went out without any argument.”

After confronting Jagtar about the allegations, Mann said, “It is a conspiracy against me. One can easily imagine who are the persons behind it. The whole party is pained after the incident and the Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal also came yesterday to share grief with the families.”
